Lala Rural College was founded in 1964 under the guiding principle of “VIDYAMRUTHAM ASHNUTE” and has come a long way since its infancy. The College has established itself as a Higher Education Institution of renown in the field of Arts and Commerce for Higher Secondary and Undergraduate programmes. This achievement reflects the dedication and foresight of its founders, along with the selfless support of the people of Lala.
The College, affiliated with Assam University, Silchar, works tirelessly to keep pace with the needs and changing dynamics of higher education. The Central Library of Lala Rural College serves as a valuable academic resource centre for students, teachers and researchers.
Rich Collection
The library has a diverse collection of printed books covering Education, Persian, Political Science, History, Commerce, Bengali, English, Manipuri and Economics. It also includes reference sources such as encyclopaedias, atlases, dictionaries and materials related to the history of the Northeast region.
Periodicals
The library subscribes to newspapers such as The Assam Tribune and Hindustan Times, along with magazines, CDs/DVDs and printed journals to keep users updated with current events and academic publications.
Operating Hours
The library remains open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on all working days. It remains closed on Sundays and other notified holidays.

The library is fully automated and computerized, enabling users to access, search and manage library resources more efficiently through modern library services.

Trained library staff provide circulation services, reference assistance, research support, current awareness services, new arrival updates and reprographic services such as photocopying and scanning.
