About the Cell

The Research and Publication Cell of Lala Rural College works to strengthen the research environment of the institution by encouraging faculty members, students and research scholars to engage in academic writing, research publication, seminars, workshops and collaborative academic activities. The Cell promotes interdisciplinary research and supports departments in organising seminars, conferences, invited lectures, workshops and publication-related activities.

National Seminar Activities

Department of History

Two-Day National Seminar on Cultural Heritage

A two-day National Seminar was organised by the Department of History, Lala Rural College, in collaboration with Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Samiti, on 24th and 25th January 2025. The theme of the seminar was “Cultural Heritage, Socio-Economic Transformation and Sustainable Development in the North Eastern Regions of India.”

The seminar promoted academic discourse on cultural, historical and developmental issues of North East India and encouraged interdisciplinary research. It was organised under the guidance of Dr. Himabrata Chakravarty, Principal, Lala Rural College, and Dr. Ng. Dayamay Singha, Head, Department of History and Coordinator, IQAC. The convenors were Dr. S. Bebita Devi and Mrs. Anuradha De.

The seminar included eminent resource persons, inaugural session, technical sessions in hybrid mode, paper presentations and valedictory session. A total of 63 research papers were presented from different perspectives focusing on cultural heritage, socio-economic transformation, indigenous traditions and sustainable development in North East India.


Department of English

ICSSR-NERC Sponsored Two-Day National Seminar

The Department of English organised an ICSSR-NERC Sponsored Two-Day National Seminar on “Narratives of Indigenous Knowledge and Innovation: Language, Culture and Development in Northeast India” on 27th and 28th January 2026.

The seminar examined indigenous knowledge systems, linguistic plurality, cultural expressions and sustainable development in Northeast India. It brought together scholars, academicians, research scholars, students and independent researchers from various institutions.

The seminar comprised six technical sessions in offline and online modes. It received 82 registrations and witnessed participation of 102 participants, including paper presenters from different colleges and universities across India.


Department of Commerce

MAKAIS Sponsored Two-Day National Seminar

The Department of Commerce organised a Two-Day National Seminar on “Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development in Northeast India: Integrating Culture, Heritage and Traditional Practices as Catalyst for Entrepreneurship” on 23rd and 24th March 2026.

The seminar was sponsored by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies (MAKAIS), Kolkata. It focused on entrepreneurship, cultural heritage, traditional knowledge, financial inclusion, women empowerment and sustainable development.

The seminar included ten technical sessions and approximately 136 research papers were presented in offline, online and hybrid modes. An Exhibition-cum-Entrepreneurship Bazaar was also organised to showcase local products, handloom, handicrafts, bamboo and cane items, agro-based products and indigenous creations.


Department of Bengali

Two-Day National Seminar on Puranic Influence on Society

The Department of Bengali successfully organised a Two-Day National Seminar on “Puranic Influence on Society: Family Structures, Gender Roles, and Social Customs” on 28th and 29th April 2026.

The seminar brought together eminent academicians, scholars and students to discuss the relevance of Puranic traditions in shaping social structures and cultural practices. The event included inaugural session, offline and online technical sessions, keynote deliberations, paper presentations and valedictory session.

Annual Research Publication: Endeavour

The Research and Publication Cell supports and promotes the annual research publication “Endeavour”, which provides a platform for scholarly writing, research articles, academic reflections and institutional research output.

Workshops and Academic Development

The Cell encourages and supports workshops, faculty development activities, research methodology programmes, academic writing sessions and awareness programmes on publication ethics, research tools, citation management and quality publications. Such programmes help faculty members and students improve their research skills and contribute to the academic growth of the institution.
