UGC Anti-Ragging Regulations
As per the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, ragging is strictly prohibited in all higher educational institutions.
- Ragging is a punishable offence.
- Every institution must maintain an Anti-Ragging Committee.
- Students must be made aware of anti-ragging rules.
- Complaints must be treated seriously and immediately.
- Strict disciplinary action may include suspension, cancellation of admission, expulsion or legal action.
Assam Anti-Ragging Law
In Assam, ragging is prohibited under the Assam Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1998. The Act extends to the whole State of Assam and applies to educational institutions.
- Ragging causing physical, mental, social or psychological harm is prohibited.
- Any act creating fear, shame or embarrassment among students is punishable.
- Educational institutions must take preventive and corrective measures.
- Offenders may face institutional and legal consequences.

Ragging destroys dignity, confidence and career. Report it immediately.
Zero Tolerance Policy
Lala Rural College follows a strict Zero Tolerance Policy against ragging. Any student found involved in ragging, directly or indirectly, shall be liable for disciplinary action as per UGC regulations, Assam State law and institutional rules.
Students are encouraged to maintain a respectful, friendly and inclusive campus environment. Ragging is not interaction. Ragging is an offence.
