About the Principal

Dr. Himabrata Chakravarty stands as a distinguished academician and leader, currently serving as the Principal of Lala Rural College. With an impressive array of academic qualifications, he brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and administrative expertise to the field of higher education.

Prior to assuming the role of Principal, Dr. Chakravarty served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Zoology at S.S. College, Hailakandi. His academic journey reflects dedication to teaching, research, institutional development, and student-centred education.

Beyond the academic sphere, Dr. Chakravarty has made significant contributions to the National Cadet Corps, having served as Company Commander of 4 Assam B.N. NCC from 2009 to 2022. He has also taken leadership roles in community service as the Charter President of Lions Club Hailakandi Centurion and has actively participated in initiatives such as the Lions Clubs Sight First Mission.

His commitment extends to various professional and social roles, including RUSHA Certified Finishing School Trainer, Election Trainer for the District Administration, and Resource Person for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and other academic engagements. In higher education governance, he serves as a Member of the Court of Assam University, Member of the Assam University Disciplinary Committee, and Governing Body Member of S.S. College.

Engaged in social activities, Dr. Chakravarty is a Life Member of Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal and actively contributes to ornithological studies. His multifaceted profile showcases dedication to education, leadership, community service, and the pursuit of knowledge across diverse domains.
